EKG TECHNICIAN

An EKG Technician, also known as an electrocardiograph technician, plays a vital role in monitoring heart conditions. Their primary responsibility is to perform EKGs, which track the electrical activity of the heart. These tests help doctors diagnose and monitor heart issues, including irregular heartbeats, heart attacks, and other cardiovascular problems. 

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the forecasted growth demand for EKG Technicians between now and 2031 is 9.9%. The rise in heart disease and need for preventative cardiac diagnostic services have created a steady need for EKG techs-that translates into excellent job security.

Annual salaries range widely from $30K-$52k. Hourly pay typically ranges from $18 to $25, depending on experience. Plus, the role often comes with full-time benefits like health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plans.

EKG technicians can be found working in diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals & health systems, cardiology clinics, physician offices, urgent care centers, diagnostic imaging centers, rehabilitation centers, outpatient and ambulatory care centers.

Hands-on Skills Training: Wednesday 9am-2pm

Clinical Externship:  TBD (Student agrees to work the schedule of preceptor at assigned facility. Program Director will provide details of clinical rotation site once confirmed based on location availability and proximity to student.)
